v1.1.31

Stronger key protection, 1 GB videos

New features

Your keys have a new home

The key that unwraps your private key is now held by the browser's own key store rather than ordinary site storage, and the credential you sign in with is derived separately from it. Your account moves over on its own the next time you sign in — there's nothing to turn on and nothing to re-enter.

Send much larger videos and files

Large uploads now travel in pieces rather than all at once, so big transfers are far more dependable on real-world connections — and the video ceiling has risen dramatically. On Premium you can now send videos up to 1 GB, up from 100 MB.

File size limits now match your plan

Attachment limits now follow your plan, and the sizes shown on the pricing page come from the same source the app uses — so what we advertise and what you can send always agree. Upgrading raises your limits immediately.

  • Photos and files in chats — 10 MB on Free, 100 MB on every paid plan.
  • Videos in chats — 10 MB on Free, 100 MB on Standard, 200 MB on Pro, 400 MB on Pro+, 1 GB on Premium.
  • Documents for Orion Architect — 100 KB on Free, rising to 100 MB on Premium.
  • Orion Architect works with documents and images rather than video, so videos aren't accepted in Architect conversations — you're told right away rather than after a long upload.

A new home on the web

Our website has been rebuilt from the ground up and now lives at orionarchitect.io — a new look, a clear explanation of how we protect your privacy and security, and our own published research. It also carries something we've wanted for a long time: the public changelog you're reading. Every release, what changed, when it shipped.

Improvements

Messaging that keeps up with you

Sending is faster and steadier across the board.

  • Messages resolve cleanly, even if you close the app mid-send — anything still in flight is sorted out the moment you reopen ORION.
  • Large attachments no longer slow the app down while they upload.
  • Several files at once are handled gracefully, sending in sequence so everything stays responsive.
  • Document downloads show live progress, so you always know where a large file has got to.

Files and attachments

File handling has had a thorough pass this release. Attachments are more reliably delivered and stored, previews and downloads are more consistent, and ORION is clearer with you about what's happening at every stage of a transfer.

Voice messages

Voice messaging is more reliable, from recording through to playback.

Easier on the eyes

Text is clearer and better balanced throughout the app. Every colour combination now meets accessibility contrast standards, in both Midnight Emerald and Legacy Blue.

A steadier iPhone experience

The app sits correctly on screen in more situations, with smoother behaviour around the keyboard and a wave of smaller layout refinements.

A more stable app

ORION is more resilient across the board, including while you set up your recovery phrase.

Tidier storage

When you leave or remove a chat, everything belonging to it is now cleared properly — photos, files and voice notes included — so your device reclaims that space.

Sharper, more grounded answers

Orion Architect is more precise this release.

  • It stays anchored to who and what you're asking about throughout a conversation.
  • It's more accurate about your account, billing and subscription.
  • It's better at recognising the edges of what it can answer — and says so plainly rather than guessing.
